Apple is being sued over the domain name “iCloud” by a company called “iCloud Communications”

Apple is being sued over the domain name “iCloud” by a company called “iCloud Communications”, but the world and his wife already know as sure as day is day that Apple own the iCloud, or do they?

Apple is good at advertising, in fact it is very good, and it makes slick looking kit. Its marketing boys and girls have been more than earing their daily bread in slick saturation advertising campaigns and the general public have quickly come to associate “iCloud” with Apple.

However a company called “iCloud Communications” has lodged a case against Apple. A copy of the case can currently be found online at the following address (http://www.tekgoblin.com/2011/06/12/apple-sued-over-used-of-icloud-name).

The lawsuit states that “The goods and services with which Apple intends to use the “iCloud” mark are identical to or closely related to the goods and services that have been offered by iCloud Communications under the iCloud Marks since its formation in 2005.  However, due to the worldwide media coverage given to and generated by Apple’s announcement of its “iCloud” services and the ensuing saturation advertising campaign pursued by Apple, the media and the general public have quickly come to associate the mark “iCloud” with Apple, rather than iCloud Communications”

Will Apple lose the case and have to create a new domain (iStratus perhaps), will it pay premium dollars to buy the domain, or even the company “iCloud Communications, will a couple of faceless security guards be in the same building as “iCloud Communications” just before the entire building and work force get sucked into an alternative dimension and no long able to contest the case? Only time and money can tell!

Apple can be found at….. Do you really need the address for Apple?
